A Chronology of the Benefits of Being a Kuntz Employee
Upon Hiring
- Cafeteria deductions can come right off your pay
- You have a choice to have your vacation pay of 4% paid weekly or have
us accrue it until end of June when there is usually plant shutdown in July.
- You get probationary T-shirts.
- You have the opportunity to have up to 4 bank accounts, which can
be very helpful when saving.
- Our Recreation Association, funded by you and the company, has activities
such as Christmas Parties, Family picnic, and social outings.
- Access to EAP Employee Assistance Plan, when needed
- A Shift premium of 5% of your base rate. This is paid on afternoons
and nights.
- Payment of all Statutory Holidays (but not non-statutory holidays
i.e. civic holiday or floater)
- The company generally issues Christmas grocery gift certificate.
- Suggestion awards are rewarded
On Your 3 Month Anniversary
- Life Insurance of $10,000 paid for by the company
- Opportunity to purchase additional Life Insurance, cost covered by
employee
- Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance of $10,000 paid for
by the company
- Short term disability benefit if you qualify. This will mean a weekly
income of 55% of weekly earnings. Maximum of $413. Qualifying period for this
benefit is 14 days. The maximum period of payment is 26 weeks and this is a
taxable benefit
- Prescription Drugs are paid by the employee and the company reimburses
80% to the employee (and dependents) up to the maximum limit of $250.00.
- Dental care is 80% paid by the company to a maximum of $750.00 per
covered person. This is for basic treatments only. Remember Recall examinations
are every 9 months not 6 months.
On your 6 Month Anniversary
Your probation period is complete and here is the benefit package:
- You are entitled to share in the Kuntz Pride Profit Sharing Plan.
- Christmas Bonus - If declared, you will be entitled to a $10.00 bonus
cheque. Each additional year that you work at Kuntz your Christmas bonus cheque
grows. Example 2 years - $20.00, 3 years - $30.00
- Uniforms - You are entitled to order uniforms every 12 consecutive
months. The allotment for one year is 5 shirts and 3 pairs of pants. Salaried
personnel are allowed $400.00 per year.
- Safety Shoe's - You are given a safety shoe allowance of $90.00 every
calendar year. This means if you are given your shoe allowance of $90.00 in
Dec/07 then you will be eligible for another shoe allowance Jan /08.
- Prescription Safety Glasses - You are entitled to 1 pair of prescription
safety glasses from our authorized dispensers. Replacement glasses may be obtained
every 2 years. Remember to get the appropriate paperwork from the Safety Department
first.
- Paid Holidays - You are paid for non-statutory holidays. Non - Statutory
holidays are August Civic Holiday and 1 Floating holiday.
- Jury Duty - You will be compensated for the difference between the
wages that you would have earned for your missed shift and the amount that you
receive for jury pay.
- Bereavement - When a death occurs in your immediate family, the company
will provide time off with pay as follows:

for Birth of the child of the employee or employee's partner or for placement
of a child with the employee for adoption.
On Your First Year Anniversary (After 2080 Hours worked) Benefits increase
On Your 5th Anniversary
- You will now receive 3 weeks holidays which is 6% vacation pay
On Your 10th Anniversary
- You will now receive 4 weeks holidays which is 8% vacation pay
On Your 15th Anniversary
- 75% RRSP matching by the company to your DPSP
On Your 20th Anniversary
20 YEAR BENEFIT
- You will be reimbursed the employee's portion of the CPP and EI premiums
(which currently is about $2,760 per year) evenly over the pay periods for a
year. [53.08 per week for 2008]
- You will now receive 5 weeks holidays which is10% vacation pay.
- You will now receive 100% RRSP matched by the company
On Your Retirement
Kuntz Electroplating Inc. greatly appreciates the time and effort employees
have contributed to the Company over their working careers. To demonstrate this
appreciation, Kuntz has developed a package of Post Retirement Benefits to assist
employees in making the transition from work to retirement. It is expected that
these Post Retirement Benefits will provide additional financial security to
employees and their families after the employee retires.
Qualifications:
To be eligible to receive Post Retirement Benefits, employees must meet the
following criteria:
- Employees must be minimum age of 55 years on the date of retirement;
and
- Employees must have a minimum of 10 years service on the date of retirement.
Employee's who leave Kuntz and who do not meet the age and service qualifications,
will not be eligible to receive Post Retirement Benefits.
Benefits:
1) Company Gift
Kuntz will pay an amount to each retiring employee equal to $100.00 for each
complete year of service. Example an employee working here 30 years would receive
$3,000.00
2) Group Insurance Benefits
Kuntz has established a plan with its Group Insurance carrier to provide Group
Insurance benefits to our retired employees. Kuntz will pay the premiums for
the Retiree Group Insurance benefits.
Group Insurance Benefits Duration:
Post Retirement Benefits will be extended to employees, based on the following
schedule:
Retirees with 10 years of service 1 additional year of benefits but not beyond
age 70
Retirees with 15 years of service 2 additional year of benefits but not beyond
age 70
Retirees with 20 years of service 3 additional year of benefits but not beyond
age 70
Retirees with 25 years of service 4 additional year of benefits but not beyond
age 70
Retirees with 30 years of service 5 additional year of benefits but not beyond
age 70
Retirees with 35 years of service to age 65 or a minimum of 5 yrs, not beyond
age 70
- Life Insurance coverage is $10,000
- 80% of covered Prescription Drugs up to a maximum payable is $7,500
per calendar year
- 80% of Vision Care up to a Maximum of $200 every 24 months
- 80% of Hearing Aids up to a maximum of $500 every 60 consecutive months
- 80% of out of hospital Private Duty Nursing care up to a maximum of
$10,000 per covered person per calendar year, but you need to qualify
- 80% of dental care basic services up to a maximum of $1,500 per year
per covered person
- 80% of Periodontics/Endodontics up to an annual maximum of $1,500 per
covered person
- Major Restorative work ,annual maximum $1,500 per covered person 50%
reimbursements
- 35 or more years service coverage for benefits until the Provincial
Drug Plan
for seniors becomes effective (currently age 65) or 5 years minimum coverage.
In no event will Post Retirement Benefits extend beyond age 70.
